This switch provides the following various settings: +ON-----------------+ SW1 |+--+ +--+ +--+ +--+| PC/AT I/F /-- || | | | | | | || Connector \-- || | | | |XX| |XX|| Side |+--+ +--+ +--+ +--+| +-1----2----3----4--+ | | | +------ Should be set to OFF | | +----------- Should be set to OFF | +---------------- CSEL +--------------------- Master/Slave NOTE Each bit of the optional function setting switch is read at a time of Rest or Power-on. The switch setting should be done before Power- on. Master/Slave ------------ Switch to be used for setting the master/slave mode. When the switch is "ON" the drive works as a master, and when "OFF" the drive works as a slave. On shipping, the switch is set at "ON". CSEL ---- Switches for setting the mode of J1-28 pin. J1-28 pin can be set to Cable Select, by the switch setting. When CSEL is "ON", Cable Select is set. On shipping, Cable Select is set as ineffective. In horizontal installation, mount the drive to maintain a positure that its printed-circuit board will be situated below. The drive has 6 + 4 mounting screw holes. Use these screw holes to fix both frames for installation. The drive require an interface cable and power supply cable to oper- ate the drive. Furthermore, this drive various optional functions including master/slave configuration. UNACCEPTABLE! Never install PC board on the Top! Two drives can be connected in daisy-chain using the same interface cable. J1 Interface Connector ---------------------- The connector J1 for the interface is a 40-pin box type and right angle connector. Use the interface cable within limit of 46 cm in length. Sample: Adapter connector on the J1 cable side DUPONT 66900-240 or equivalent (integrated housing and pin) J3 Power Connector ------------------ The power supply connector J3 is AMP P/N 350211-1 or equivalent. The AMP P/N 1-480424-0 is applicable to a connector housing on the cable side. For the power cable take current consumption of the drive and cable length into consideration. Use a connector pin suitable for the writing. These drives provide the intelligent general translation mode to emulate the various type of existing disk drivers for easy implemetation. And also they support the 1:1 Interleave and the pre- fetch Read-Look-Ahead cache features for the high performance throughput. Each drive can be connected to the Host PC system up to two Master and Slave with daisy chained style. To prevent data track from the damage caused by the excessive shock and vibration during the transportation, they have Auto-Carriage- Lock mechanism, which position its magnetic heads at the CSS (Contact Start Stop) area on the innermost cylinder of the magnetic disk. Upon the power up, the magnetic heads take off at the CSS area. When the power turns off, the magnetic heads move to the CSS zone auto- matically, and are kept by the Auto-Carriage-Lock mechanism. The servo system of these drives use the sector servo method, by which the servo signals are embedded on the data track. This system realizes the precise positioning with minimizing the thermal off- track by temperature. Furthermore, these drives attain a high-speed seek of 12 ms (average seek time) by using the Rotary-Voice-Coil motor. These drives employ the 1-7 RLL recording scheme for read/write ecoding method and On-the-Fly ECC to each sector to garantee a high- reliable data integrity. By this method, these drives recover auto- matically for read error, up to burst 11 bits. The spindle motor is an inside-hub type, and the high integrated LSI is used for the interface circuit, read/write circuit, servo circuit. Therefore, the down sizing and low power consumption drives are realized. Since the magnetic platters and magnetic heads are enclosed in the air-closed package which is made from aluminium alloy, these drives are protected from the micro-dust of outer air, so that they provide the high-relibility.
