Please leave this partition intact until you choose the appropriate installation option. As a precautionary measure, Maxtor recommendeds that you download a copy of the MaxBlast software to a blank diskette even if you choose an alternate high-level formatting method. Install a 40-pin ribbon connector. The striped edge of this cable represents pin 1 and must be oriented towards pin 1 at the drive connector and at the host connector. Install a DC power connector... If AT BIOS supports user programmable parameters, program System BIOS with one of these default Parameters. Model Cylinders Heads Sectors Capacity 71262AP 3158 16 63 1,626 MB 71260AP 2632 16 63 1,260 MB 71084AP 2105 16 63 1,084 MB 7813AP 1579 16 63 813 MB 7541AP 1052 16 63 541 MB If AT BIOS does not support programmable drive type, choose parameters that closely match, but do not exceed, the drive's formatted capacity. The drive is now ready for partitioning and high-level formatting with any operating system. For example: Partition the drive using the FDISK command from MS-DOS version 3.3 of higher. High level format the drive using the FORMAT command from MS-DOS version 3.3 or higher. Secure the drive in a suitable drive bay with 6-32 x 1/4" screws. NOTE WPC and Landing Zone BIOS entries do not need a specific number for proper operation. Maxtor AT interface hard drives will ignore and override any numbers programmed. Important - Please Read ----------------------- This Quick Reference is intendened only for experienced engineers and technicans. If you are not familar with the procedures described here, please have a qualified computer technican perform drive handling and installation.
